A Proposal on the Stoop of their Old Apartment Building

Their best friend planted a note on the door

When Nicholas decided to propose to the love of his life, he knew he had to make the moment as special as the girl he wanted to marry. He asked his best friend to plant a note on the door of their old apartment building (he had to run for his life to avoid being seen) so that when they “wandered down memory lane” on their way to dinner, they could start the night of surprises right.

They read the note together, and then we all teared up a bit when he dropped to one knee. I was doing my best to be inconspicuous across the street for the big moment, but after she said yes I went over to introduce myself and start the portrait section of the evening. We walked through the streets of Soho, stopping at their local bodega to literally smell the roses, and once we made our way back to their apartment I asked if I could come up to use their bathroom to not give away the final surprise of the night.

While they were out, all of their friends had descended on their apartment, to set up the surprise engagement party. There were balloons, bartenders, and crying family members, everything that was needed to make their gorgeous apartment into the perfect venue for a party.
