The fog made this proposal feel like a scene from Pride and Prejudice
There’s something magical about rain—the way it quiets the world, softens the light, and brings out the colors of nature in a way that sunshine never quite can. And at Untermeyer Gardens in Yonkers, New York, a hidden gem perched above the Hudson River, that magic was amplified tenfold one beautifully rainy afternoon when love took center stage.
The forecast earlier that week had promised sun, but as the day unfolded, silvery clouds rolled in and gentle rain began to fall—just enough to dot the stone pathways and awaken the scent of roses, earth, and time itself. Where some might see inconvenience, one couple saw perfection.
Hiding under an umbrella Meredith was too distracted by the one of a kind picture book Chris had made to tell their love story to notice the photographer doing her best to hide in plane sight.
Chris led Meredith to stand in the middle of the walled garden, got down to one knee, and asked her a very important question. Of course, her answer was yes.
Once the ring was on her hand, nothing could dull their spirits, and we spent the next hour taking pictures and dancing in the rain.
Rain on a wedding day is said to be good luck, but rain on a proposal? That’s fate painting with its softest brushstrokes.
